How do I repair clogged drainpipe?
My sink drains very slowly. My roommate examined it with a flashlight and says it is a mold inside the pipe. Draino helps, but only slightly. The pipe is stainless steel. The landlord has “fixed” it repeatedly, but the problem resumes.
There should be a bottle trap or U trap below the sink.
Remove the bottle trap, clear the trapped materials, shuffle a soft cane or soft thick wire in and out the drain pipe several times to loosen harden oil/greasy stuff.
Reinstall the bottle trap, pour boiling water into the sink and problem will be solved.
For the U trap, just unscrew the nut and shuffle soft thick wire and do the same as above.
For a 100% job, locate the floor waste, open up the lit identify the drain pipe and push a long soft cane as above for drainpipe cleaning. Boiling water to be used after this.
