Was the opening ceremony at the Beijing that spectacular?
It’s being touted the greatest opening ceremony ever, I beg to differ! I mean we have all seen a Chinaman running along walls in some karate movie or two and the drumming and tai chi what’s that China’s attempt at intimidating the rest of the world with their military precision! Although the drums did look good with their pretty lights, you’d be impressed if you were a moth. All that money they spent on the ceremony and it was an average show.
Long live Sydney’s opening ceremony (now that was spectacular).
What do others think?
I agree that is was boring, each segment was too long, spectacular -yes, technically great – yes. However it was tedious and completely lacking in the emotion that we have come to expect from the Olympics.
But I suppose that we cannot expect any better from a totalitarian regime that is hiding its disdain for human rights (and the rest of the world) behind a carefully orchestrated Olympics
