What are some good ideas for food to take on a hike/picnic date?
I’m having my second date with this guy over the weekend and I was going to surprise him with a little lunch. We may or may not go hiking so if we do, I plan to bring a backpack. What are some creative things I can bring?
Nothing messy, that’s certain.
Neat sandwiches so you don’t have food all over your face, your hands, your shirt. There’s no soap and water or mirrors around to tidy up when you go on a hike.
He won’t appreciate looking at you with cole slaw, mayonnaise, or chicken all over your face or stuff dripping all over your shirt and he wont want the same stuff all over his face or shirt either.
Go for ham and cheese, mustard and lettuce with cold drinks. Another good choice is roast beef. Whatever the filling, don’t overload the sandwiches or it all falls out.
Also remember that if you’re hiking, you don’t want to lug a lot of heavy stuff with you.
Fruit, like apples, bananas are always good. A few candy bars can be eaten or not.
Make sure you’ve got napkins and a few individual wipes.
Don’t forget a small bag for taking away the trash.
You can always do the dips, fried chicken and potato salad with a glass of wine when you get to know him better.
