If I smoked cigarettes for 12 years, half a pack a day, do I have a good chance for a near-full recovery?
I am 26 and quit smoking 6 months ago. I started smoking when I was 13. I averaged about half a pack a day. I havn’t noticed much of an improvement in lung function. Just wondering if I can ever expect to almost fully recover.
P.S. – Also smoked MJ off and on for a few years.
Our bodies have remarkable powers of recovery but unfortunately you will never be as good as you might have been if you had never smoked.
Your health will improve substantially and your lung function will improve but it takes a long time and unfortunately you have done some terminal damage to yourself.
Now that you have quit smoking your lungs will not get any worse.
