Has anyone worn Neos Overshoes (20″) for camping or hiking in moderately harsh environments?
A friend recommended them – look like a goulash, what do you wear underneath them, a sneaker or light boots?
I have a pair of them but would hesitate to use them on a rough, steep or rocky trail because the traction might not be good enough with them. If they fit over your sturdy hiking boots they would be OK for light snow or a wet trail that was fairly level and smooth. I would not use sneakers for hiking — not enough support or protection for the soles of your feet.
I got them to use over boots for walking with snow-shoes and for wearing around town in the snow over my regular shoes. Also for wearing around camp in snowy or rainy conditions — handy to use as slippers if you have to get up at night to take a whiz. They are a pretty useful product that adds a little warmth and keeps out wetness but they don’t take the place of a good pair hiking boots.
