Which flashlight to get?
Mini Maglite LED or Fenix LD20R4. The Fenix costs about $40 more; which light is the best for the value?
The Fenix is by far the better light, I work as a security officer and currently my two duty lights are a Maglite XL100 (regretting that one a bit) and a Fenix TK40 (bigger than what you are looking at but a testament to Fenix quality). The Fenix TK40 puts out 630 lumens and uses 8 AA batteries and has turbo (630lm), high (270lm), med (93lm), and low (13lm) modes with alternate modes strobe, fast flash, SOS flash, and slow flash. I will go with Fenix above Blackhawk or Surefire or Streamlight any day!
The Maglite XL100 is a new and refreshlingly innovative product but has some problems in my experience. Its motion/rotation sensitive switch system is hard to learn and is very easily messed up by being dropped/smacked agains any other surface. Still a good light, but I wish I had gotten the LD20R4 as my backup.
