Real people magazine scratch card scam or not?
real people magazine gave away a free scratch card three weeks ago – each week for three weeks you had to try and match the symbles on your scratch card to that published in the magazine – quess what I was a winner and was led to believe that I had won a whopping £5,000, I am very sceptical and read all the small print, which revealed (after loads of guff about owning the winning ticket) that in the event of more people winning than there were prizes, your ticket would, after you had sent it ‘recorded delivery’ be entered into a draw but you were to contact a certain number which I tried to call all day but SUPRISE!! it was perminantly engaged. So I contacted the mag and they said that a mistake had been made and it was going to be resolved by a draw after all. what I want to know is – do you think its fair that such a popular magazine should be able to build up the hopes of thousands of people a lot of them being needy elderly and was it a scam or a genuine mistake?
Yes, i also won the £5,000 on the third week and i also rang the number and it was permently engaged or full and not having alot of money i sent it by special delivery to make sure it got there. i was waiting thinking i won this money but then i bought the next issue and read all about this ‘error’. Thinking i was winning this money as it was with a well known magazine i promised money to family members in need of it for christmas. What a great way to end a year. They didn’t even have the decency to reply to people in writing they just stuck a note in their magazine. So much for a merry christmas!
