Can I use dry ice in an ice chest to keep frozen cakes frozen while being transported?
I am taking the cakes for my daughter’s wedding 2 1/2 hours to her dad’s. The cakes are frozen and will be transported 3 days before the wedding, so I would like to keep them frozen until they can be transferred to a freezer. I have read about the dangers of dry ice in closed spaces and want to make sure that this will not be dangerous or do damage to my cakes.
a friend of mine ships me tamales from texas to oregon,….they are shipped in a styrofoam container with dry ice,….it is sealed with tape….you have to let the tamales “breate” a bit before you eat them….it takes 3 days to ship them to me. they seem really good to me. they are however wrapped and seperated from the dry ice with newspaper…..good luck
