A million volts sounds pretty impressive, but you have to understand that it is not the voltage that does the work but the current, the amount of electrical charge that gets pushed through the circuit by the million volt potential.
A typical 12 volt car battery has an actual standard potential of just 13.2 volts, but it pushes a current of several hundred amps with those 13.2 volts for quite a while, enough to fry the life out of someone.
Your little million volt stun gun, on the other hand, probably uses a capacitive discharge to deliver the charge: huge voltage, very little actual current, and over in a few milliseconds. It would have to use a charge-disperse-recharge cycle requiring constant contact with the assailant to do any more than shock someone enough to cause their reflexes to react. In some situations, that might be enough of a deterrent to make an assailant step back and reconsider, but I’m pretty sure that if the assailant has serious intent this would only make them mad. (Remember the old movie cliche…”Don’t hit hinm, it will only make him mad”?)
If you are serious about being able to defend yourself I strongly recommend that you put the time and effort into learning HOW to defend yourself effectively… learn Aikido (or another martial art that suits you), learn street smarts, learn how to properly and responsibly use a weapon if your specific situation calls for it. NO, I AM NOT SUGGESTING YOU JUST GO OUT AND BUY A HANDGUN… I am saying that IF it is appropriate to do so, and the laws where you are allow it, learn how to use guns as a defense against having one used on you. Understanding what an assailant’s weapon is capable of and knowing how to minimize the risk automatically removes a significant part of the assailant’s capacity to do you harm.
The best advice I can offer is that you take the time and make the effort to learn how NOT to be a victim.
