Building a fire in the Rain?
Im going to go hiking for the first time and I want to be prepared before I go to deal with bad situations.
I have a firesteel flint, and Im going to use cotton balls with vaseline to get the fire going.
But when its raining and pouring how am I going to obtain dry fuel and how will I keep the fire from burning and not be put out by the large amounts of water.
Wouldnt I need a shelter for that?
I’m thinking it might work to use a tarp to create a rain shelter above the fire…high above!…to keep off the bulk of the water. Look for fuel under bushes and trees. Carry small dry stuff with you…twigs and sticks.
