Merely filling a tank with water from the hose may not be enough when creating an emergency water supply. The fact of the matter is that many city water supplies are not fit for ingestion. Water sources are oftentimes contaminated with a vast quantity of pollutants. Asbestos, lead and chlorine are all commonly found in city water sources. This can make water unsafe for humans to drink. It is important that we run our tap water through a water purification system before drinking it. This is true for the water we drink on a regular basis as well as for the water we use to create our emergency water supply.
If a disaster strikes we want to be prepared with an emergency water supply that is actually useful. This means we should purify or filter all of the water we use to create our back up supply. This may seem like something you can put off, but you never know when you will need your emergency water.
