How come they don’t play bands like Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, or Pink Floyd in dance clubs?
I like both Classic rock and music that’s played in (some) clubs. I don’t go to a club expecting to hear Zeppelin but rather club-type music. If I’m in the mood for some AC/DC or Stones, etal, I’d go into a different place where I know that would happen like a bar with a juke box or a place I know that has a classic rock cover band. However, I’ve seen exceptional DJs (both performance/touring DJ’s and Club/Resident DJ’s) who can mix it up and rock the house with the classic 70′s rock and still flow the funk, 80′s hip-hop, and (dare I say) top 40 to a pleased crowd. Catch Z-Trip if you ever get a chance. He pretty much popularized the whole rock/hip-hop mashup thing that so many DJs and producers have since tried to copy. He knows how to rock the party.
