Direct X error when trying to install Creatures (Win95), what should I do?
When installing my old Windows 95 Creatures game everything will work fine until a message box says that I need to install DirectX 3a or 5. I clicky the “ok”, but the fackturd errors all to hell. I’ve been surfing the next and trying all kinds of crap to fix this error but I can’t find anything that works. I tried the Service Pack 4+, but it doesn’t do shite for XP. I even tried switching the compatibility for the game and DirectX. The setup for DirectX works fine, but when the Creatures World starts to load it fooks up >_____<. I thought everything was going to be all rainbows and sunshine after I remembered my grandmother had an ancient laptop for Win95, but then I discovered there were no frickin' power cords... not even a god forsaken battery pack. o_____o
... if only I had an apocalypse button. =D!
you tried everything i would try, with one exception. try running it in wine with compatibility mode for win 95
