what is the current draw in amps of a device using 12v at 2.8 watts?

what it is, is that i bought a led lamp to use for camping and need to work out the amperes this thing is going to draw from my battery? also if it is too much i opened the thing and found that it has the leds wired up in three rows of 20. so the 20 are in parallel with 3 in a serries of each parallel. i wonder if i can use 1 led of the three in each to reduce the amount of amps used by bridgeing the other two in each row without overloading the remaining leds? any help greatly appreciated, thanks?- heres a thing too i found that you can use a Battery Charger at powered sites to run all your 12 volt appliances because buying a transformer that has as much of a current output works out much more expensive.

Next to nothing really…

I’m not sure if I follow, but if there are 3 in series connected to the remaining 17 in parallel, then each led gets 3 volts… if you change the number connected in series, then you will increase the voltage to each led and probably overload it.. It sure would help to see a picture, but I hope I answered your question.

EDIT: If you really wanted to lower the amperage (which I don’t think you would need to) you could start cutting some of the rows out… So there would be 15 rows, for example, of 3 LED’s in series… but having the 3 in series is very important unless you put a resistor in there to make sure the voltage stays at 4v.
