The Halo Video Games were created by Bungie Studios as a trilogy of games for the Xbox 360 platform. The story begins with the character Master Chief Petty Officer Spartan-117 who is a human super-soldier equipped with advanced technology, weaponry and body armor. He also has a companion names Cortana. Master Chief’s job is to aid humanity in battling the Covenant, an alliance of alien races and a parasitic organism known as the Flood.
Halo: Combat Evolved is the first in the trilogy and the first-person shooter video game that is a great blend of game play, graphics and sound. The story begins with the conflict between humans and the alien race known as the Covenant. The aliens have discovered a powerful artifact on the ring-shaped planet called Halo. It is up to the player to stop the aliens and there is a large number of weaponry at the player’s disposal including the use of human and alien vehicles. You will be able to get up close and personal with the enemy and as well be able to throw grenades accurately. The game is both challenging and engaging and will be measured against all other video games for years to come.
Halo 2 opens in Covenant Holy City of High Charity and much has happened since Master Chief (that would be you) created so much havoc in the first Halo. You will find yourself immersed in the lush graphics and orchestral sound which put animated television shows to shame. This is a first-person shooter game where you will get to use a single melee weapon known as the Covenant Sword and as well you will be able to shoot double-fisted. New in this game is the Covenant wheeled monsters. Play with your friends as you can play through Xbox Live, which was not available in the first game. There are customizable profiles, control layout and screens as well as a voice proximity feature that allows you to talk to other players via an Xbox Communicator. Undoubtedly, this multiplayer feature alone ensures that Halo 2 will remain a top-selling game for years to come.
Halo 3 is the last of the trilogy where you get to be involved in some insane battles with an arsenal of alien and human weaponry. You’ll discover all sorts of new armaments and characters and you can even play online with Xbox Live. The next generation graphics are stunning as well are the technological advances such as enhanced artificial intelligence and the beefed up real time lighting engine. You get to save the human race but are you ready to take on Covenant and defeat them once and for all? It could be a fight to the finish!
Halo Reach is the blockbuster prequel to the Halo franchise. You will experience the fateful moments that forged the Halo legend. It is the story of the Noble Team and their final stand on planet Reach. It is a dark and gritty story with backdrops of massive, awe-inspiring environments and characters of amazing detail. For the first time, players will fight alongside a squad of iconic Spartan soldiers. It will be an intense campaign with new weapons and abilities to complement the familiar Halo arsenal with the biggest battles ever seen in the Halo universe. You will find stunning technical advancements with graphics, audio, special effects, AI and animation. This game has exciting new surprises that have not yet been revealed. The game doesn’t get released until September 1, 2010.
Halo 3: ODST was developed exclusively for Xbox 360 and is a stand alone expansion to the Halo saga. Players get to experience the events that led up to the epic story told in Halo 3. The new character, ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Trooper), is searching for clues to find their scattered squad and the reason for the Covenant’s invasion of New Mombasa. The game allows players to explore dangerous new ground around a recon mission. You’ll be armed with specialized weaponry including silenced weapons. You get separated from your squad and have to find clues in order to find out what happened to Buck, Dare, Dutch, Mickey and Romeo. You will do battle in multiple environments, on foot or in vehicles. You will also be involved in a firefight where you will count every last kill you earned to see how high your scores can go stacked against your friend’s and the community overall.
Halo Wars will get you into the early stages of the epic battle between UNSC and Covenant. Set in the year 2531, before the initial Halo first-person shooter game, this game lets you control the human armies of UNSC in a whole new way. You will be able to experience the epic battle from a new perspective while facing a hostile attack. You will need to uncover the hidden strengths and weaknesses of each unit and play them to your tactical advantage. You will have much at your disposal including the command of the UNSC forces, if you choose. As well you will have everything from highly trained Marines to air and land support from the Warthogs, Scorpions and Hornets. You will need all that is available to you to out smart of the Covenant forces. The game was designed for the Xbox 360 so the controls are sensitive, intuitive and easy to operate in the midst of a deadly battle.
Halo games are critically acclaimed as being the best and most influential first-person shooters video games.
