Average battery life of a Xenon Bulb incandescent flashlight?
Like with Alkaline batteries or something?
This will depend (of course) on which xenon bulb it is and what size cells.
The Rayovac Xenon bulb for two D cells draws 0.8 amps.
D cell batteries have a capacity of around 14 amp-hours at a 20 hour rate which coincidentally comes very close to the 0.8 amp discharge rate so I wouldnt worry about correcting for the discharge rate. I’m also not going to worry about the variation in current with varying supply voltage (comment to the purists. Lets keep it simple)
14 amp-hours Divided by 0.8 amps = 17.5 hours.
Alkaline batteries will have a slowly decreasing output voltage as they are discharged. The light will be very bright at first and get dimmer as the batteries wear down. It could easily be that at 12 or 15 hours the light is not bright enough to suit you.
